In James Cameron’s film, Interstellar, a former astronaut, Cooper, played by Matthew McConaughey travels across space with a team to find the new home for mankind in the distant future. The film is very detailed; often times placing the plot points and phrases with care and purpose. This is most prevalent in the buildup to the plot twist of the film. Every other scene is of a ‘ghost that haunts the daughter’ but towards the end, the audience realizes this is actually the girl’s father trying to communicate with her from another dimension. The turns the movie takes are completely unexpected making it an intriguing tale, however, the biggest downside with Interstellar was the sheer amount of detail in story. Exposition of backstory and how the science works of the movie seem to take up most the movie, and with a run time of over three hours, it drags to say the least. Overall, it’s a decent movie, and while I can’t see it as a movie to watch to relax, it’s a decent movie to think about.
